If you want slack... bring it with you!!! What Is ROTC? ROTC stands for Reserve Officer's Training Corps. ROTC is a course one may take, freshman through senior year, which teaches leadership and may lead to a commission in the U.S. Army. Leadership is a quality few people are born with, yet so many have exhibited throughout history. No one has better personified the true art of leadership than the United States Army Officer. In fact, many of our most prominent leaders, people who have helped shape the course of world history, started out as Army officers. Army officers have proven that they are among America's bravest, brightest, and best. But how does the making of an Army officer begin? Quite simplely, with someone who has the desire to be a leader, to be the one responsible. Today, as in the past, there are a lot of bright, young, ambitious students with this desire. Army ROTC at ERAU can be an exciting, fun, and challenging. In addition to the financial benefits that are received with scholarships, the leadership training will help in finding future jobs. Leadership Classes Freshman and sophomore cadets attend one hour of classroom instruction, plus a one and one-half hour Leadership Lab per week. Junior and senior cadets attend three hours of classroom instruction, plus a one and one-half hour Leadership Lab per week. Additionally, physical fitness training is conducted from one to three times per week. Cadets also participate in one field training exercise (FTX) per semester. Curriculum/Equipment The ROTC curriculum is designed to be exiting, educational and flexible enough to meet requirements, while helping to accomplish academic and personal goals. Classes and training include: map reading, land navigation, rapelling, water survival, marksmanship, patrolling, tactics, customs and courtesies, drill and ceremony, military history, ethics, writing skills, professional reading, plus military law and procedures. All uniforms, military text books, and equipment are issued to cadets at no charge. Location The Prescott campus of ERAU is located in one of the most picturesque portions of Arizona, the Grand Canyon State. Only 100 miles north of Phoenix, and 100 miles south of Flagstaff, the mile high Prescott campus covers some 510 acres. Truly, an outstanding location to live and receive the finest education in aviation, aerospace/electrical engineering, computer science, and other related fields. Advanced Camp Following the junior academic year, cadets attend ROTC Advanced Camp at Fort Lewis Washington. During this six week period, cadets demonstrate proficiency in and are evaluated on the skills they have learned during the preceding years in ROTC. Cadets are provided transportation, room and board, and a stipend during their training at Advanced Camp. Contacts MAJ
